Portable appliance testing, otherwise known as PAT testing, involves checking electrical appliances to find out whether they adhere to set safety standards.

Fuses are an integral part of Portable Appliance Testing and should be checked for correct rating along with any cables used in conjunction with the plug

PASS and FAIL Labels give visible checks for safety tests. No portable applience should be used with a fail label attached, Checks can be made in the Log Book for fitness of Purpose.

Mains powered IT appliances should also be tested on a regular basis and labeled the same as any other tested item.

All power tools both mains and battery should be tested. The tests should be visual checks as well as electrically safe checks and logged with label details.

Mains powered portable tools / appliances  and any extension cables / chargers should be Logged to shedule the various types of equipment. The schedule calculated with type, usage, age, fitness for purpose etc.
